Drift is not the failure
Attention drifts. The expensive part is what happens after: shame, checking another feed, opening a new plan, or deciding the session is ruined. A restart script gives you a cheaper return path.
Why the return path matters
Raichle describes the brain default mode network as part of normal internal thought. Drift can connect ideas, but it can also trap you in replay. The skill is noticing the moment and returning without drama.
The Rebuilt move
Use one sentence: "I drifted; the next move is..." Then name the smallest visible action. This keeps the restart mechanical enough to use when you are already annoyed.
