Bad breathing can make you feel more strained than you need to

A rushed breathing pattern often travels with tension, stress, and that wired-flat feeling.

The main useful idea is not to obsess over perfect technique. It is to notice when your breathing gets fast, shallow, and high in the chest, then deliberately slow it down.

Over-breathing can make you feel worse

If you breathe too fast when stressed, you can end up lightheaded, tight, and oddly air-hungry even though plenty of air is around you.

That is one reason slower breathing helps: it stops feeding the loop that is already making you feel worse.
